There aren't too many of us that aren't, in some way or another, familiar with forum boards. In the off chance that you are new to using a forum, here are some helpful tips:
1. Register ! Most forums have a Login or Register for new forum users when you get to the forum website. Registering simply allows you to become a member of that board; not all require you to do so but others do. You may be able to read some of the section but most won't allow you to create a post on it until you register. Also too remember that some sections aren't even available to those who don't register so you're only getting 1/2 or less to view if you choose not to sign up. This includes this Forum as well. So register already !
2. Posting : Forum boards are divided into sections, (like this one.) General is usually anything you want to discuss by making a post. When you post, locate the section of the board that your new post best belongs in. Most times, "Create Topic" or "Create New Thread" is what you'll use to post.
3. Replying to a post: Want to add your thoughts, opinion or et et to an existing post someone else made ? Under most posts, whether it's the original or someone else's reply, there is a button that will read "Reply to post" or "New Reply." Click away and add what you want to it !
4. Some forums allow you to post pics, (like this one & the Pleaseland Forum.) I get asked a lot, "How do I upload a photo on a new post?" Simply enough, find a free photo hosting website :I prefer photobucket.com You can choose to make your Album Public or Private. Then, just upload the picture you want from your computer and once it's done, it will give you several codes, (direct link, IMG or et.) Our board and Pleaseland's uses the IMG code. Just copy that over to the post you are making and post your message.
5. Want to send something to a forum member in private but don't want to share it with the rest of the world ? All you have to do is locate the Member List, (usually at the top of the board menu.) find the person you want to message. Mostly, it will read something like "Send Private Message" or "PM (Member name.) It's pretty much the same thing as creating a post but it only goes to that person. If you have a reply waiting from that person anytime after you send it, it will give you that message when you log back in.
Hopefully, this helps anyone who isn't used to forum boards. Feel free to add more info to this post that you think might be helpful. Again, I posted just basics but welcome anything else to be added.
